In Semester 2, the International students will continue their swimming lessons, the driving program and other co-curricular activities they have committed to in Semester 1 depending on COVID-19 restrictions. Learning is expected to be heavier this term with exam weeks approaching and the girls are mentally preparing for the study that will be required. Students are also excited to be able to return to the boarding house, their home in Armidale. A lot of deliveries arrived early for the girls which were welcomed when returning to campus this week.
The Segue online course students are commencing a more in depth study this term, as well as virtually joining some English lessons with Year 10 to observe and experience mainstream learning. With the support from the Pathways teachers, the blended lessons will benefit the students to gain a better idea of the expectation and speed of lessons in preparation for 2022. The girls are nervous and excited to start the advanced course.
The Pathways team is extremely appreciative of the help and support from our PLC Armidale staff and community. This school holiday has been extremely hard for homestay arrangements due to the unexpected lockdown in Sydney. A huge thank you to all of the families who have offered to host the girls. Some families have gone above and beyond to take the girls for extended periods of time or host extra students. The generosity of the families really brought relief to the girls’ parents, the boarding house and the enrolment team.
A special mention to Mrs Kate Fittler, Mrs Janelle Sennett and Mr Guy Davidson and their families for accommodating the girls on such short notice and for being so flexible under such uncertain times. The girls enjoyed their time with the families and were sharing how well looked after they are this holiday. It was certainly a unique experience for them to have in Australia. The Fittler’s even created a short video of their homestay which you can view below.
