I was timid and physically
weak when I first came to
Australia, but Pathways
transformed me. I’ve learnt
many skills and lots of
experiences from Pathways,
such as music, speaking
skills, how to be punctual...
which are really useful
to me.
Pathways’ boarding life
was quite different
compared with China.
I was really lucky to
have these fantastic
boarding house masters.
We could always do a lot
of fun activities with them.
Pathways is a really nice
language school that was
a turning point of my life.”

The invigorating classes combined with drama
lessons, films, novels and “hot seat” not only laid the
foundation for the EALD course, but also boosted my
confidence in oral English. I was also encouraged to
take part in a variety of activities – special park runs, choir and canoeing – which enriched my extracurricular
life and helped me to better fit in Australian culture.”

I was not a confident
person before I came to
Australia. I chose to stay
at PLC Armidale because
I like the quiet environment.
There aren’t as many
students in one class as
there are in Sydney, so
teachers are able to look
after each student better.
I also feel that people here
are more welcoming than
in the city. My teachers
and classmates here have
helped and encouraged me
so much that now I know
I have the opportunity to
achieve anything if I work
hard at it.”

Here at PLC Armidale,
we are lucky because
PLC offers a range of
opportunities for us.
These activities and
different identities not
only open channels for
making new friends,
practising my English
speaking and listening
but also balance my
academic study
and help me blend into
the community.”

I learnt a lot from
PLC Pathways, not only study,
but also how to make friends
and to adapt into
life in Australia. I am now
studying at Toowoomba
Grammar School and I've
found I am able to
make lots of friends and to
understand almost all of
the classes. I had very good
teachers at PLC Pathways
and the learning experiences
have helped me a lot
in my ongoing study.”

The most important thing I learned at PLC Pathways is to
find my goal. This has helped me a lot with my studies in
Australia, especially my self-awareness and self-discipline.”

During my time in
PLC Pathways and
PLC Armidale, I learnt a lot
about critical thinking.
In China, teachers tended
to enforce information and
knowledge, and that was
how we got good grades.
It doesn’t work like that
in Australia. In Australia,
you need to think and have
an opinion. Teachers respect your thoughts. Through my
educational experiences
in Armidale, I have been
able to adapt to Australian
culture and life.”
